Family, Love, and Passion: An Open Heart

I hope you all had an amazing Thanksgiving Weekend.   Thanksgiving Eve, I posted a v-log, Reflecting on Passion During Thanksgiving.  In this I recommended the activity of taking the oportunity of gathering with loved ones, to be in our heart space and Remember.  As part of this during Thanksgiving, I asked my family to share what they were Passionate about as they shared what they were grateful for.

It was pretty magical.  Hearing everyone share what they were grateful for AND passionate about allowed me to feel closer and more connected to them.  It’s kind of vulnerable to share what you’re passionate about and allowed us to share ourselves and increased the level of connection during dinner.   It also helped me see how I can support my family  in what matters most to them and allow them to support me.

The most wonderful weekend and (probably the best Thanksgiving weekend) ensued.  My grandmother’s living room, dining room, and den became the home of a huge slumber party as we stayed up playing games, laughing, and watching movies into the night.  And with this my heart was left wide open.

If you are just reading this or seeing the v-log, it’s ok.  You can still do the exercise, and if your family is spread across the country or even the world, set up a conference call or video chat.  Google + Hangouts will allow you to get up to 10 people in a videoconference and it’s not hard to set up for those less inclined.

Call it a clan, call it a network, call it a tribe, call it a family.  Whatever you call it, whoever you are, you need one.  ~ Jane Howard
